Our Team

Our management team is composed of senior executives with a track record of success and deep industry experience in entertainment, media, communications, finance and law, among other disciplines.

  • Mr. Rouhana is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Inc. and has been the Chief Executive Officer of Chicken Soup for the Soul since April 2008. Mr. Rouhana has been a leader in the media, entertainment and communications industries for more than 35 years.  He was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Winstar Communications, a wireless broadband pioneer, and Winstar New Media, one of the earliest online content companies, from 1993 until 2001.  During his career Mr. Rouhana has led the acquisition of numerous media companies including Virgin Vision, a Virgin Group worldwide film distribution venture, in the 1980s. As an entertainment and finance lawyer from 1977 to 1985, he developed new film financing models for major producers such as Blake Edwards. He is a founder of The Humpty Dumpty Institute, which created the International Film Exchange, and the Co-Chairman of the Global Creative Forum, which connects the United Nations with major film and television executives, producers and talent. Among other qualifications, Mr. Rouhana brings to our Board extensive executive leadership in the communications, media and entertainment (including production and distribution) industries and broad experience in business financings and acquisitions. He received his B.A. from Colby College, where he is currently Trustee Emeritus; and his J.D. from Georgetown Law School.

  • Mr. Seaton has been a member of our board of directors since May 2016.  He has been the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Chicken Soup for the Soul since April 2012. He has more than 25 years of media and telecommunications investment banking experience. Prior to joining Chicken Soup for the Soul, he was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston where he worked from 1988 to 2002, at Bank of America from 2002 to 2009 and at Oppenheimer & Co from 2010 to 2012. He served on the board of directors of Mediacom Communication Corporation from 2009 to 2011 when Mediacom was taken private for $3.7 billion. He received his A.B. from Stanford University and his M.B.A. from Harvard University.  Among other qualifications, Mr. Seaton brings to our Board extensive public company and media-related financing, acquisition and transactional experience and important acquisition operating experience relating to the Chicken Soup for the Soul Brand and related operations and media company board experience.

  • Ms. Newmark has been a member of our board of directors since May 2016. She has more than 30 years of media and telecommunications industry and investment banking experience. Ms. Newmark has been the Publisher, Editor-in-Chief and an author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series since April 2008, and has coauthored the publication of more than 150 books under the Brand during her tenure. Ms. Newmark founded and managed a successful hedge fund for five years. Prior to that she was a Managing Director at CJ Lawrence and was a top-ranked telecom analyst during her tenure. She received her A.B. from Harvard University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Among other qualifications, Ms. Newmark brings to our Board important financing experience, content publications expertise and an intimate knowledge of the Chicken Soup for the Soul Brand and related operations.

  • Ms. Wilkin has been a member of our board of directors since 2016. She has over 20 years of experience in the media industry. She has been Managing Director of Twelve 24 Media, a broadcast and media consulting firm, since 2014. Formerly she served as President of CBS Affiliate Relations from 2008 to 2014 where she was responsible for network agreements with all major broadcast group television stations. From 2000 to 2008, she was involved in the management of both CBS and FOX affiliates in numerous markets. She received her B.S. from the University of Southern California.  Among other qualifications, Ms. Wilkin brings to our Board, extensive management and operational experience in the media and entertainment industries, particularly in the television broadcasting industry.

  • Ms. Weiss Lurie has been a member of our board of directors since May 2016. Her multi-faceted career spans the worlds of sports, entertainment and philanthropy. She is an owner of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Founder of Eagles Youth Partnership (now the Eagles Charitable Foundation). She is also a two-time Oscar award-winning film producer.  As executive producer, Ms. Lurie received the Oscar for each of “Inside Job” (in 2011), which tackles the consequences of systematic corruption of the U.S. by the financial services industry, and “Inocente” (in 2013), which features the struggles of a homeless, undocumented teen. She is the co-founder of independent film company, Vox3 Films, founded in 2004, which now operates as Tango Pictures.  She is also a noted philanthropist. Under her leadership, the Philadelphia Eagles earned the coveted 2011 Beyond Sports Team of the Year award for their work in the community and for trailblazing environmental programs in professional sports. She received her B.A. from Yale University.  Among other qualifications, Ms. Lurie brings to our Board extensive content production experience and brand management skills from the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • Mr. Cohen has been a member of our board of directors since May 2016. He has more than 35 years of media and entertainment experience. Since 2004, he has been the Chairman of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmys), and since 2000, the Chairman of its Foundation. Previously, he was the President of King World International Productions, Executive Vice President of CBS Broadcast International and the President of HBO International. He currently serves as strategic advisor to Harpo Productions on the international distribution of the television program, Dr. Oz. He is Chair Emeritus of PCI – Media Impact, a New York based international organization. He received his B.A. from The University of Michigan and his M.S. from Stanford University. Among other qualifications, Mr. Cohen brings to our Board extensive executive and operational experience in the media and entertainment industries, including the international segments of such industries.

  • Martin Pompadur has more than 50 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry. Mr. Pompadur began his career at ABC, Inc. in 1960, holding a variety of positions including general manager of the Television Network, vice president of the Broadcast Division, president of the Leisure Activities Group, and vice president of ABC, Inc., culminating with his becoming a member of the ABC, Inc. board of directors. From 1977 through 1982, Mr. Pompadur served as president of Ziff Corporation. Mr. Pompadur was then head of RP Companies from 1982 to 1998. Mr. Pompadur joined News Corporation as executive vice president of News Corporation, president of News Corporation Eastern and Central Europe and a member of News Corporation’s Executive Management Committee in 1998. From January 2000 until November 2008, Mr. Pompadur served as chairman of News Corp Europe. He served as global vice chairman, Media and Entertainment at Macquarie Capital from 2009 to 2016. Mr. Pompadur has served as a director of Nexstar Media Group (Nasdaq: NXST) since November 2003. Previously, Mr. Pompadur served on the boards of IMAX Corporation, ABC, Inc., Ziff Corporation, News Corporation Europe, Sky Italia, News Out of Home, BSkyB, and Metromedia International Group.

  • Cosmo DeNicola has founded and grown several national companies to market-leading positions. Mr. DeNicola founded the Cosmo DeNicola Companies, a portfolio company that holds a diverse range of businesses in the healthcare, technology, publishing, professional sports, and entertainment industries. In 1981, Mr. DeNicola founded Amtech Software, a provider of software and hardware solutions for the corrugated manufacturing industry. Mr. DeNicola founded Futura Services Inc., a technology support company, in 1992, and currently serves as its chief sales and marketing officer. He co-founded enterprise mobility provider of wireless/RFID technology, InfoLogix Inc. in 2001 and served as its chief executive officer until the 2006 merger of InfoLogix with New Age Translation, Inc. In 2011, Mr. DeNicola co-found international SAP services company, LogiStar Solutions, and served as its chairman until LogiStar was sold to Ernst & Young in 2014. In 2014, Mr. DeNicola co-founded Pursuit Healthcare Advisors, and served as its chairman until Pursuit Healthcare Advisors was sold to Atos in 2017. In June 2018, Mr. DeNicola was awarded with Ernst & Young's Philadelphia Region Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2019, Mr. DeNicola was honored by the Fox School of Business as one of 100 world-wide entrepreneurs and visionaries who have helped shape the Fox Business School and the business world.

  • Mr. Mitchell has more than 25 years of experience managing and financing businesses and providing financial and strategic advice to senior management teams. Since May 2013, he has been a member of the executive leadership team and an Executive Vice President at CSS, and the Chief Executive Officer of Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul LLC, a subsidiary of CSS.  From 2009 to 2013, he was the Chief Executive Officer and founder of TMG Partners, a specialized private capital investment firm focused on enterprising consumer goods and media companies.  From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Mitchell was a senior founding member of a proprietary investment fund at Bank of America Merrill Lynch focused on making direct private investments into mostly consumer goods and media companies, including an investment in CSS, and from 1993 to 2003, he was a member of the Leveraged Finance team at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.  During his career, Mr. Mitchell has led or assisted 59 transactions totaling more than $17 billion, including financings for subscription based or ad supported media businesses such as Bloomberg, Inc., QwestDex, Inc., Radio One, Inc., Block Communications, Gray Television, Inc., and Entercom Radio, LLC and consumer goods companies such as Del Monte, S&W Fine Foods, Contadina, College Inn, StarKist, Sun Fresh, Orchard Select, Kibbles 'n Bits, C&H Sugar, Bell Sports and Accessory Network (leading accessories designer and manufacturer for Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Tahari and Izod). Mr. Mitchell received his B.S. in Finance and B.S. in Management from Virginia Tech and studied International Law and Finance at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

  • Elana Sofko joined Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment in 2016 as the Senior Vice President of Business Development and Distribution. Ms. Sofko brings over two decades of media and entertainment experience, always on the leading edge of innovation. Prior to Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Ms. Sofko focused on a range of digital business growth initiatives for WWE, including International expansion and localization of WWE’s digital properties as well as supporting the launch and international expansion of WWE Network, a subscription based video over-the-top (OTT) service. Ms. Sofko worked on the launch of satellite radio as part of the start-up team at the company now called SiriusXM, and has overseen strategic growth initiatives at ESPN, Nokia, News Corp and A&E Television Networks. Ms. Sofko earned a B.A. in English Literature from the State University of New York at Albany, and an M.B.A. from University of Connecticut, which included a semester in China at Peking University. Ms. Sofko’s qualifications include worldwide experience in distribution, monetization, digital tech and products, business and corporate development.

  • As the president of VOD networks, Mr. Guelton oversees all of CSS Entertainment’s properties that monetize video content directly to audiences. This enables the company to improve efficiency and flexibility by consolidating all VOD operations including Pivotshare, Popcornflix, and Truli, and lay the groundwork for future acquisitions.   
     
    Mr. Guelton was formerly the chief executive officer at SheKnows Media (now She Media), a mission-driven digital media company with a reach of 60+ million monthly unique visitors and over 350+ million social media fans. Penske Media Corporation acquired SheKnows Media in 2018. Previously, Mr. Guelton served as president of Thrillist Media Group, a leading men’s lifestyle digital brand now part of GroupNine. Mr. Guelton was also chief operating officer at Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., where he oversaw print and digital platforms for brands such as Elle and Woman’s Day. Prior to that, he led the acquisition and was the chief executive officer of Japanese publishing company Fujingaho (now part of Hearst).

  • David Fannon, currently president of Screen Media, assumes leadership of all of CSS Entertainment’s distribution and content acquisition initiatives. He first joined Screen Media in 2005 and over the course of his 14-year tenure, Mr. Fannon has been intimately involved with the growth and expansion of Screen Media from a home video company to a truly digital pioneer. Screen Media acquires the rights to TV series, films and other video libraries, and monetizes these assets by licensing those rights to companies that deliver video to their own audiences. The team sells the content worldwide across a comprehensive range of video platforms, including theatrical releases, cable TV, local TV, digital platforms, DVDs and CSS Entertainment’s own VOD/Online Networks.
